TSC Becomes a Certified Green Business!
Minimize

The Tom Sawyer Company (TSC) has become a member of an exclusive club—the city of Columbia’s Green Business Program. The program recognizes businesses that operate in an environmentally-friendly manner and encourage other businesses to adopt green business practices.

Officially, it is called the city of Columbia’s Climate Protection Action Campaign or “CPAC.” To be a Green Business Club member, companies must have a “Green Team” and meet environmentally-friendly criteria established by the city. The program was organized shortly after Columbia signed the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Climate Protection Resolution in October 2006. So far, more than 800 cities across the country are participating in the program, and TSC joins over 80 area businesses in the Columbia CPAC.

This is the second time the Tom Sawyer Company has been recognized during 2009 for taking proactive steps to improve the company’s environmental record while improving the bottom-line. In April, TSC President Carolyn Sawyer accepted the “Sustainable Purpose Award” during the Women Presidents’ Organization’s (WPO) National Conference in San Diego, CA. The annual award, sponsored by WPO and Sam’s Club, is given to an organization that is a leader in recycling and energy conservation and places emphasis on saving our natural resources.

TSC formed a Green Team that trains employees and clients on how to reduce their carbon footprint at work and at home while saving time and money.  According to Green Team Leader Emily Bloxdorf, the company has seen substantial savings in office supplies and energy consumption.
